PROJ 302 Undergraduate Summer Internship (FENS) Class

PROJ 302 is a non- credit class provided respectively by FENS to undergraduate students.
PROJ 302  course is opened only in summer terms and are free of charge.

PROJ 102; is a prerequisite and corequisite of the PROJ 302 course. Effective as of course registration for the "PROJ 302 Summer Internship" course in the 2017- 2018 akademic year, the prerequisite for the PROJ 302 course has been changed to having completed the "PROJ 201 Project" course and having completed the 64 SU credit by the end of the fall term.

To be enrolled in PROJ 302 course, students are required to be enrolled in one of the FENS Undergraduate Programs. 

Starting with students who were immatriculated in the 2014-2015 academic year, students may not take both the PROJ 302 course and any summer school courses during the summer semester.

Passing the PROJ 302 course is a prerequisite for FENS students.
The students may drop the PROJ 302  course after their enrolment in this courses. However, to drop the PROJ 302 course, the Faculty Board of Directors resolution is required. The deadline to drop the course is the last day of the summer term final grade entry date. Under such circumstances the grade of the student would be "W". FENS students should retake the PROJ 302 course to be able to graduate.

Public holidays do not count towards internship period. Internship may begin at the earliest after the finals shown in the academic schedule, and must be completed by the beginning of the next academic term. 

1. Enrolling in PROJ 302 Course

The SR opens the Student Information System for enrolment in  PROJ 302 class over the Information System / Students and announces relevant information to the students. The students get enrolled in PROJ 302 class over the  Information System / Students at course registration time in the spring term or add drop period in the spring term for the summer term.

2. Internship Application and Evaluation of the Internship Result

The students who are enrolled in PROJ 302  course contact the domestic or foreign companies and institutions where they can carry out their internship and inform them of their intention. Students can do their internships:

  • a company in Turkey or
  • a company in abroad or 
  • a university in abroad.
The students who have enrolled in PROJ 302  course must get their Cv's approved in the  PROJ 302 Online Management System. The students who have been accepted by the companies/institutions for internship should fill in the Internship Application online via the "New Internship Project Form"  on the system.
The student indicates the definition of the project to be carried out in the company or institution that they will be accepted for internship and other information in the "New Internship Project Form". After the project definition written by the student is recorded, a notification message is sent by the system to the Project Advisor's e-mail adress.

The Project Advisor  evaluates the project definition and checks the approved or rejected options, and this information is automatically sent to the e-mail address of  the student.  The student whose project has been approved by project advisor may start the internship. The student whose project has been rejected should find another project and write a new project definition in the Internship Application Form; then wait for the approval of his/her internship advisor.

If requested by the company or the institution, Internship Office gives a Compulsory Internship Certificate to be delivered to the company or the institution where they have been accepted.

3. After the Internship

The students deliver the requested documents to the company or institution and complete their internship in the period indicated below.

The internship period for FENS students enrolled in the PROJ 302 course is minimum 8 weeks (40 working days). If the internship period provided by the company is shorter than 8 weeks, upon the approval of the internship advisor  the student may complete the  remained 4 weeks internship period in another company in the same summer term. If a student completes two different internships in the course of the required eight-week internship period, the student is required to prepare their reports about both internships.

Holidays are not counted towards your internship.

Internship Office  requests from the related company/institution to evaluate the performance of the student throughout the internship over the web (with the firm code and password) online by filling out the Student Evaluation Form. This form that has been filled out by the company/institution is automatically sent to the  PROJ 302 Online Management System.

The students submit  their projects Final Report, Digest Report and posters by the relevant format to the PROJ 302 Online Management System.

The students who have completed their internship should prepare a Poster Presentation and share it with the Faculty Members and other students of their faculty.

The earliest date which students can start their internships:                     3 June, Monday 2019

The last date students can enter a new project to the system:                 16  August, Friday 2019

The last date students can upload their final reports to the system:       13 September, Friday 2019

The last date students can upload their digest reports to the system:    13 September, Friday 2019

The last date students can upload their posters to the system:                13 September, Friday 2019
